Overview
Real Social Change Cannot Happen in a Silo
At Shristi English School, we intentionally brought 150+ male and female students into the same room to talk openly about menstrual health and hygiene — because true change requires everyone.
The workshop focused on breaking the taboos and isolation practices that often surround menstruation in Nepal. By educating male students on the actual science of the menstrual cycle, we taught them how to support and care for their female classmates and family members.
Impact
Replacing Awkwardness With Empathy
By the end of the workshop, male students demonstrated a clear understanding of the menstrual cycle — not as something to be embarrassed about, but as something they could actively support their peers through.
We saw the dynamic in the room shift visibly as the session progressed. Students who arrived hesitant left with questions, conversations, and a new vocabulary for talking about health.
Pre and post-workshop surveys revealed a massive breakdown of stigma among both boys and girls, fostering a safer, more supportive school environment for every student.
